富岳三十六景 神奈川沖浪裏(Thirty-six Views of Mt.Fuji:The Great Wave off Kanagawa)
An aloha shirt which incorporates “Fugaku Sanjurokkei:Kanagawa-oki Nami Ura (Thirty-six Views of Mt.Fuji:The Great Wave off Kanagawa)”as a graphic.Utilizing techniques cultivated through kimono textile printing in Kyoto, the colors sre layered by combining multiple printing blocks. If you look closely, you can see that the sailors are depicted as pigs, making it an ukiyoe design that is in typical D'ARTISAN fashion.
“The ivory color was designed to represent the daytime, and the orange color to represent the sea on the evening.Although this can be said about any of my designs,I had an especially haed time deciding where to place the pigs in Fugaku Sanjurokkei in order to make just the right amount of statement.”
